Power Outage in Los Angeles Not Terrrorist-Related (updated)

By Andrew Cochran

LAST UPDATE AT 5 pm ET. Large sections of LA were out of power, just a couple of days after the release of an Al Qaeda tape which threatened LA and Melbourne with terrorist attacks. The AP reports that the LAPD is on "full tactical alert." LAFD says that it was an accidental cut in a line - employees of the LA Department of Water & Power, which supplies power in the city, "are responsible for the outage." LAFD says that the outage is sporadic and ending in some areas. LA International Airport reports no disruptions to flights yet.
