Who Trained Kevin James, a Prison Inmate, to Be an Radical Islamist?

New indictments of four individuals in California (Acrobat file of the indictment) show exactly what Daveed Gartenstein-Ross what talking about in his August 25 post, "Radical Indoctrination in U.S. Prisons." Note that the indictment says that Kevin James started his little jihadist wannabe group way back in 1997, but the acts giving rise to the indictments didn't occur until 2004 and 2005. So our questions (Daveed's and mine - he is on travel) are: who trained James in his radical Islam - who visited him - which books did James read prior to 1997 and where did they come from - and how did James continue to receive indoctrination after he formed his group in 1997? Think of this case and the Lodi and Abu Ali cases as chapters in the (apparently) always expanding history of radical Islamist indoctrination in the U.S. Longtime readers will recall that the nonpartisan Freedom House organization released a great study of radical Islamic literature circulated in Islamic schools and mosques. The same forces have been treating federal prisons as another training ground. So it was "better late than never" to read that the FBI is investigating indoctrination at prisons.
One other note - the DOJ press release on the case notes the importance of the Joint Terrorist Task Force concept in this case. According to the US Attorney, the case started with local law enforcement, which then referred it to the Long Beach JTTF. The press release lists numerous other federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies involved. Our compliments on the great cooperation.
