Sniper Fear Triggered by HuJI Operatives in India

By Animesh Roul

Innovation is the key for everyone to survive in a competitive environment. But terrorists want to excel in what they think, where to hit and how they plan to carry out, much ahead of security agencies. Trends show that terrorists in South Asia, particularly India have always improvised their tactics and methods, be it in suicide attacks, serial blasts, handling improvised explosives (using Cell phones to trigger, Tiffin boxes and pressure cookers to hide and increase impact), hurling grenades (using unemployed civilians) or in choosing targets (temples, Mosques and busy market places).

Now they have reportedly graduated to Sniper handling to target high-profile political or business personalities in India and elsewhere, triggering a Sniper attack fear. This revelation came during interrogations of Bangladesh based Harkat-ul-Jihad-al–Islam terrorists arrested late last month. The terrorists– Mukhtar Hussain and Md Akbar Hussain and Azizul Rehman – affiliated to the outfit were arrested from separate places in West Bengal, on the basis of information provided by their India commander Jalaluddin (also Babu Bhai) who was arrested a couple of days earlier from Lucknow.

During their interrogations, the terrorists have reportedly confessed their journey from Kolkata to Dhaka and then to Karachi on fake travel documents. They also confessed about the training in handling Russian-made sniper rifles in camps on Pakistan-Afghanistan border.

The other interesting revelation other than this Sniper training, is Jalaluddin’s alleged connection with Umar Shaikh, Mohammad Atta and a huge financial transaction made for the 9/11 attacks.' However this claim would be probed in separate report soon.
